In this group we find cotton, silk and wool. These were
the first fibers used for apparel and are appreciated
for their comfort and softness. Except for cotton, which
can be washed easily, they are delicate and require gentle
care.

These originate from chemical treatment of wood cellulose
and are known under the names of acetate, rayon and viscose.
They provide comfort and have glowing characteristics
but like wood, they do not react well to water. |

These are petroleum-based products introduced in the 1940's
and are widely used nowadays. They include nylon, acrylic,
polyester, and spandex
Synthetics are known for
their high strength, their ability to stretch and their
resistance to wrinkling. |
